The Barwon Urban Knitting Community Project has united over 150 community members to stitch, knit, and crochet, creating connections and sparking vital conversations about ageism, the root cause of elder abuse.
This project aims to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and celebrate individuals of all ages.
The colourful blankets, teddies, and beanies symbolize a tapestry of inclusivity and unity. This project is a step towards recognising the importance of challenging ageist attitudes and places emphasis on treating older individuals with the dignity and respect they deserve whilst fostering a culture where every person, regardless of age, is valued.
Organised by the Barwon Elder Abuse Primary Prevention Network (BEAPP) and Barwon Community Legal Service (BCLS).
