Older, Not Alone isolation awareness campaign for winter

Winter can be an isolating and difficult time for older people, especially those living out in the community. COTA Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria has just announced a public campaign to underline the problems, highlight the current resources, and explain how valuable community connection is to ensure better health, wellbeing, and ability to live independent lives.

COTA says that community support already exists, such as financial support for energy costs, but many older Victorians don’t know it’s there and need help to access it.

The Older, Not Alone campaign aims to make sure that older people, their families, carers, neighbours, friends, and practitioners are aware of the opportunities available and how to access them. COTA is working with state and national agencies to create resources and information to help older people manage well through the winter months. Older, Not Alone will launch on June 7.
