The ageist view that beauty is limited to youth is harmful to older people and society more broadly.
It disrespects and socially isolates older people and erodes self-esteem, health, and wellbeing. It also robs those who are not yet old of an optimistic pathway for their ageing and hope for their future.
The #OldisBeautiful project involves workshops with older people to explore what beautiful means to them and to document these meanings in word and portrait photographs. #oldisbeautiful toolkits will be available on the Celebrate Ageing Website for use across the country.
The release of Project portraits starts in VIC and will include a series of urban street posters featuring Aunty Sherree Francis.
