Elder abuse in rural, remote Australia: new research needs your help

If you work in the elder abuse space, please answer this survey and add your valuable experience to help this vital new project.

Published: 23 December 2024

The Attorney-General’s Department has commissioned the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre to undertake a research project on elder abuse and regional, rural, and remote communities.

The research project will investigate:

  • prevalence and forms of elder abuse in regional, rural, or remote Australia

  • challenges encountered by victim-survivors when help-seeking or responding to harm

  • challenges encountered by agencies working to support victim-survivors, respond to or prevent elder abuse

  • opportunities to enhance responses to and prevention of elder abuse

We invite practitioners and advocates working in the elder abuse space, particularly those delivering services directly to people living in regional, rural and remote communities, to tell us about the experiences and challenges you face via an anonymous online survey.

Please access the survey via the link below
