28 older women were killed in family/domestic violence homicides in 2023 - a doubling in a decade. Nine were killed by their sons. Older women also experience alarming rates of sexual assault, homelessness, and poverty - and a particularly caustic form of ageism entangled with sexism.
Ageism is a driver of these inequalities and the silencing of older women.
This webinar launches Older Women - A LifeStages Approach, as a companion document to the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Their Children. The resource is a valuable tool for FDSV services, women's health services and anyone who works with older women.
Please join The Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner Micaela Cronin in launching this resource.
The event will be held via Zoom and an access link will be sent via email one day prior to the event.
