The Office of the Public Guardian in Tasmania has developed a set of Guardianship Standards which outlines the roles and responsibilities of guardians and details how they are expected to act. The aim of this article page is to prevent elder abuse.
Guardians are expected to meet the following minimum standards:
provide correct and clear information.
seek and consider the views of the represented person.
make decisions according to authority of the current order.
record significant information obtained.
protect the privacy and confidentiality of the represented person and the key people in their lives.
