COTA Australia has provided a submission to the Australian Government to inform the 2025-26 Federal Budget. There are 4 key action items.
Improving Cost of Living: including funding a seniors’ dental scheme, providing direct financial support to older people, improving housing affordability, reducing health expenses; and improving financial outcomes at and during retirement.
Tackling Ageism: developing a national ageism strategy and reducing older worker age discrimination.
Strengthening Protections: preventing elder abuse, improving consumer protections for scams, seniors living arrangements and in banking and strengthening and harmonising laws.
Increasing access to health and aged care services: funding more Support at Home packages, developing and implementing a generalist information and navigation service, improving aged care co-contributions and implementing a hospital at home scheme.
