This article states that 12.4% of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population are carers, compared to 10.5% of the non-indigenous population.

Aboriginal Advocacy Program staff can assist and work with older people/ Elders (family and/ or legal representatives) to provide information about rights, entitlements and responsibilities accessing aged care services, including mainstream services and or Aboriginal-specific services. 

The South Australian Office for Ageing Well is partnering with Aboriginal community representatives to raise awareness for the rights of Aboriginal Elders.
