World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on 15 June is a chance to raise awareness of the many types of abuse that older people experience. It is also a chance to highlight the many initiatives and services that are available to help people prevent and respond to abuse in all its forms. And it is a chance to build community and to celebrate the contributions older people make to our lives.

In our society we don’t hear from older people enough. So this year, Compass and Elder Abuse Action Australia (EAAA) are marking World Elder Abuse Awareness Day with an invitation to older people to share their stories. If you are over 50, over 60, over 70, over 80, over 90 or even over 100, we want to hear your story.

What is it like to be your age at this time in history? What are your experiences – good and bad – your ambitions, your hopes and even your fears? What have you learned, and what advice do you want to share?

Follow the easy process in the link below to share your story with us. Your story can be submitted online or sent via post.

Submissions close on 31 May 2025. A summary will be shared on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on 15 June.
