The government says it is aware of scammers who are pretending to be aged care providers. They are targeting older people and their families and stealing their money.

In some cases the amount they are stealing is substantial, and they prey on vulnerable people and their families who are trying to navigate a complex system at what is often a sensitive time.

You can protect yourself by checking:

  • before you click on
suspicious links

  • the provider's contact details
on their official website

If you think you’ve been scammed, report the issue to the police and contact your bank.
