Positive feedback from QLD elder abuse events

North Queenslanders have provided a raft of issues to address, and how to do so, as a result of a travelling forum organised by Aged and Disability Advocates (ADA).

Published: 4 August 2024

Local conversations with older people about local aged care issues have helped the ADA understand how they can better assist.

The events were held in Cairns and Townsville and included First Nations seniors and services.

ADA said a number of needs were identified:

  • aged care information events to be held regularly

  • greater awareness of what support is available in the community for older people

  • greater collaboration amongst local organisations and service providers

  • increase in funding as many aged care services are at capacity

  • assistance to navigate the complex aged care system.

Future events are planned. If you think this would be something that would work well in your local community, please get in touch with us on info@adaaustralia.com.au or phone 1800 700 600.
