The measures were released in the state government's plan Respectful, Age-friendly Island: Older Tasmanians' Action Plan 2025 - 2029.

"Older Tasmanians play an immensely important role in both our community and our economy, and the Tasmanian government recognises the valuable contributions they make to our society," state Community Services Minister, Roger Jaensch, said.

ABS data from December 2024 shows about a fifth (22 per cent) of Tasmania's population is aged 65 and over - the highest concentration of any state or territory - while Australia's average is 17 per cent.
