One in six older Australians living in the community have experienced some form of abuse in the previous 12 months, yet most of those harmed did not seek help or advice. This has to change.

Have your say in shaping the new National Plan to End the Abuse and Mistreatment of Older People for the next decade. This consultation process will play a significant role in developing strategies, policies, and services to prevent and address elder abuse across Australia.

There are a few ways you can participate by the February 17 deadline:

  1. Complete the Online Survey. It's a quick way to share your views on elder abuse, particularly from the perspective of people who have experienced it or those working in the field

  2. Make a Submission. If you have more detailed feedback or suggestions, you can submit a formal response here https://consultations.ag.gov.au/families-and-marriage/eamop/consultation/subpage.2023-11-14.2957549815/

  3. Join a Roundtable Discussion. These discussions may provide opportunities to engage more deeply and collaboratively on the issue, especially if you're part of an organisation or group responding to elder abuse.

If you are interested in participating, email at nationalplan@ag.gov.au or call on (02) 6141 6799

The consultation closes on 17 February 2025.
